Budleigh Salterton AFC U18s progress in Devon League Cup as rampant Robins win 13-0 at Copplestone

Budleigh Salterton Football Club Under-18s made Devon League Cup progress with a comprehensive 13-0 success when they travelled to Copplestone Cobras, writes SpursTom.

The young Robins were quickly into their stride and they took a tenth-minute lead thanks to a clinical finish from Sam Diprose.

It was 2-0 on 23 minutes with Jamie Crossman powering home a header from a Ryan Daffin corner.

Two minutes later, Finn Doyle-Stott netted a fine individual goal.

The lead was extended on the half our as Doyle-Stott crossed for Daffin to net.

There was still time in the first-half for Daffin to net a second, this time with the assist down to Ben Lucas.

And provider then turned scorer, latching onto a poor clearance from the home glovesman before drilling the ball beyond him to send the Robins into half time with a 6-0 lead.

With the game ‘won’ by the half-way point, Budleigh manager Mike Graham was afforded the luxury of making five changes.

However, the changes did not affect the balance of play as Budleigh remained very much ‘in charge’.

Three minutes into the second-half, Daffin completed his hat-trick with a close range finish, knocking the ball home after a Will White shot had been blocked.

On 53 minutes it was 8-0 with Matt Milner rifling the ball home from 25-yards.

Miller almost repeated the act minutes later, but, this time, with the glovesman beaten, the frame of the goal denied him.

Just past the hour mark, Daffin scored his fourth; heading home a Joe Graham cross.

And double figures were reached in terms of goal-scoring with Daffin netting his fifth – this one a fine solo goal.

White scored with an excellent strike from the edge of the area.

With ten minutes remaining, Graham added his name to the goal list and there was still time for Ryan Fell to complete the scoring.

The Budleigh Man of the Match was five-goal Ryan Daffin.

Budleigh boss Mike Graham said: “We must pay very genuine respect to the home side [Copplestone] who played their part in the game.

“Their all-round approach is a credit to them. They certainly battled bravely and fairly right to the final whistle.”

Budleigh Under-18s are back in action this Sunday (December 13) away at Honiton Town.
