Cancer support in Axminster and Lyme Regis has been given a much-needed boost with the launch of a new fundraising cook book.
Chefs and restaurants in the towns have donated their top recipes for the new cookbook, in aid of Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.
Recipes with Love costs £10 and is the first community cookbook to be published by the charity.
The coronavirus pandemic has thwarted the support group’s fundraising efforts, cancelling all planned events for 2020.
Profits from the charity cookbook will be ploughed back into supporting those in Axminster and Lyme Regis recovering from, or living with cancer, plus their families and carers.
Mary Kahn, charity founder, said: “This book has been brought together quickly and I’d like to thank the many people and businesses that have contributed to its production.
“When the first lockdown started, we wanted a project that would bring our community together and help with our fundraising efforts.
“Every recipe was tried and tested, with our kitchens resembling the Bake Off tent at times.”
She added: “As a charity, our aim is to support anyone affected by any cancer in our area.
“The profits from the sale of the book help to continue our needed work and services in the Axminster and Lyme areas.”
Recipes have been donated thanks to a host of businesses, including vegetarian restaurant Tierra Kitchen, The Monmouth Pantry and The Galley Café, all in Lyme Regis.
The cookbook includes 39 recipes, split into two sections, savoury and sweet.
Each recipe includes information on the origin of the recipe, simple-to-follow instructions and clear photography.
Recipes with Love can be bought from Archway Bookshop in Axminster, Serendip Bookshop in Lyme Regis, Felicity’s Farm Shop in Morcombelake, Millers Farm Shop in Axminster, Dalwood Post Office, or order online here.
