Exeter and Exmouth are top places in Devon to get a parking ticket – but pandemic sees number of fines plummet

Exeter and Exmouth have been revealed as Devon’s top two parking ticket hot-spots – but there has been a dramatic drop in the number of fines dished out.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen the quantity of penalty notices issued across the county fall by 40 per cent this year.

April’s total was just 10 per cent of the corresponding month in 2019 and May’s was 30 per cent.

Every month of the pandemic up to October has seen significantly fewer tickets issued this year when compared to the previous 12 months.

On-street parking enforcement on most roads in Devon was temporarily suspended following the outbreak of Covid-19 in March.
