East Devon retail, hospitality or manufacturing workers facing redundancy because of the coronavirus pandemic are being urged to apply for roles with a South Devon printing firm.

Harrier LLC, a print company in Newton Abbot, has announced a ‘major’ recruitment drive, creating 80 jobs, and wants to hear from anyone being made redundant from retail, hospitality or manufacturing industries – saying their transferable skills were ‘much needed’.

Recruitment firm Acorn, acting for the print company, said full training will be given to successful candidates starting work at the Covid-secure site in Newton Abbot.

Karen Sharpin, senior operations director at Acorn, said: “Unfortunately we have recently seen many companies in retail, travel and hospitality which are having to restructure and even close, with the possibility of more job losses.

“For the right candidate a role in production could prove to be a great move.

“Even if you’ve always worked in retail or hospitality your skills set will still be valuable, for example communication and working as a team.”
