Feniton FC announces plan to launch third team – as first and second sides’ players of the month are revealed

Feniton Football Club has announced it is set to launch a third team.

It’s further evidence, if any were needed, that the Acland Park outfit is very set on its ambitious plans to move up the football pyramid.

Feniton boss James Hiscox said: “The addition of a third team is another massive step in the right direction for the club.

“We are certainly ambitious and want to push all three sides up the pyramid.

“The youth set up at our club is the strongest it’s ever been and the advent of a third team strengthens the opportunities for the youth team players to aspire to.

“The masterplan is to run all three teams as one and most certainly not as three separate teams.

“The idea is to generate flexibility in the squads and I have no doubts that there will be some young lads that start next season in the third team, but will do so with every chance of proving their worth and so moving up through the second team and into the senior side.”

Feniton FC has also announced its two senior team Players of the Month for October.

Charley Selley takes the honours in the first team, which enjoyed a superb month that ended with Fenny sitting top of the Joma Devon and Exeter League Premier East table seven wins out of seven.

The sponsor of the first team award is Charcoal Grill in Feniton, which is providing a £10 voucher to each winner.

The second team award is being sponsored by Pizza Time of Feniton and the October winner is goalkeeper Jack Tucker, who has turned in some consistent performances between the posts.

Speaking of the awards, Feniton boss James Hiscox said: “Charlie [Selley] has been fantastic so far this season and delivered for us exactly what we needed.

“His teammates voted for him to be player of the month and that tells you how important he has been to us getting seven wins from seven outings so far this campaign.

“It’s taken Charlie a few games to get back into the swing of things, but over the last four games in particular, we have really seen the very best of him in that he has dominated the midfield area of the pitch on a consistent basis.”

Hiscox added: “Jack Tucker has been key to the early season league success that the second team has enjoyed.

“Being a young goalkeeper, Jack is a very exciting prospect who has bundles of talent.

“Second team boss Mark Harris tells me that Jack has been so impressive from his first outing this season and he is certainly richly deserving of his award.”
