New group invites town to celebrate community spirit and Love Ottery

All-things Ottery St Mary are being celebrated by a new group keen to boost the town and applaud community spirit.

The Love Ottery organisation is being supported by the town’s churches in a bid to help the community, through a host of activities.

As well as life-lesson support, the group plans to organise and back community activities, such as litter-picks and a youth club.

The group has set up social media pages for residents to keep in touch.

Colin Tindal, pictured, who was last month announced as group chairman, said the name Love Ottery had been chosen to reflect the group’s core purpose ‘to love the community and be a blessing to it’.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Love Ottery is a group of people enthusiastic about the Ottery community.

“Including the leaders of the different churches in the town, they are working together to organise activities and help within the community.

“Future plans include support with marriage and relationships, parenting and bereavement.

“They plan to support community litter picks, a food bank, children and youth clubs and prayer for the peace of the town.

“Although organised by the churches, the activities would be designed for the benefit of everyone in the community.

Supporting the project is Churches Together in Ottery St Mary – St Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, The Methodist Church, The Parish Church of Ottery St Mary, The United Reformed Church, The New Life Church.
