Lucy’s long list of books reaps rewards at Budleigh Salterton Library

Celebrations were held at Budleigh Salterton Library after seven-year-old Lucy Dixon finished reading 100 books.

The youngster, pictured here at her award ceremony, this week received her Booktrack certificate and gold badge, presented by the town mayor, Councillor Mike Hilliar.

As an extra reward for her efforts, St Peter’s Primary School pupil Lucy was photographed wearing the gold and silver chain belonging to the mayor.

Lucy Dixon, aged seven, finished reading 100 books.

Jane Cordy, Budleigh Library supervisor, said Lucy had read a host of books to reach the Booktrack goal, including stories from Tilly and the Time Machine to The Secret of Platform 13.

Jane said: “Lucy has done loads of reading and she has talked to library staff, and emailed, about the one hundred books she has read in order to complete Booktrack.

“From the long list of Lucy’s books, it appears she is a bit of an animal lover, but she has read a whole variety of stories.”
