Small blaze in kitchen in Exeter is tackled by city firefighters

Firefighters from Exeter were called to a home near Middlemoor on Thursday morning (October 1) to tackle a small kitchen blaze.

Crews from Danes Castle and Middlemoor fire stations were called to a home in Gittisham Close shortly before midday after smoke was seen coming from the property, and an alarm was sounding

The crews wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish a small fire in the kitchen.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire appliances from Danes Castle and one from Middlemoor were sent to a report of a smoke alarm sounding and smoke coming from a property.

“On arrival crews confirmed a small fire in the kitchen involving cooking.

“To deal with the incident crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation fan and small tools.”
