Overturned car at Broadclyst brings traffic to a standstill during morning school run

An overturned car blocked the road and stopped traffic at Broadclyst during the morning school run on Tuesday (September 22).

The emergency services were called to the single-car crash at Woodbury View, Dog Village, at around 8.30am, where they found a car on its side.

Police said the woman driving the vehicle suffered an arm injury.

Traffic in the Station Road area of the village, near Clyst Vale Community College, was at a standstill while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “A single-vehicle collision was reported to us at 8.30am today.

“It happened on Station Road, Broadclyst.

“A car ended up on its side.

“A female driver has sustained an arm injury.

“There was an ambulance on scene.”

Onlookers said residents ‘jumped into action’  to help, directing traffic until the police arrived and closed the road.
