Exmouth rowers celebrate new boat thanks to £750 council grant help

Celebrations have been held by Exmouth Rowing Club, showcasing a new boat bought thanks to help from a town council grant.

The group, which came out of lockdown in August, recently bought a Lightboat single skull with a £750 gift from Exmouth Town Council, added to club funds.

The club said new boat will help its rowers boost their technique and skills in the water.

Joe Stafford, Exmouth Rowing Club captain, said the club was ‘enormously grateful’ to the town council for its grant help.

He said: “The new addition to our fleet will help us with coaching to encourage and develop the skills of our membership old and new. We’re really pleased with it.”

Showcasing the new boat this week was club member Anna Child, a British rowing offshore gold and silver medallist.
