Antisocial behaviour at Ottery skate park and thefts from vehicles in Tipton St John prompt police warnings

Reports of underage drinking and cannabis smoking at Ottery St Mary Skate Park and thefts from vehicles in Tipton St John have been highlighted by police.

Officers have pledged to increase patrols of the skate facility in Thorne Farm Way after complaints of antisocial behaviour.

They are also urging residents to be vigilant after vans and a motorhome were targeted by crooks in the Barton Orchard area of Tipton.

On the skate park issue, PCSO Jonathan Sims said: “It has come to our attention that there may be ongoing antisocial behaviour [ASB] at the skateboard park – this may include underage drinking and smoking of cannabis.

“We will be conducting extra patrols within this area of the town and should you witness any ASB please report it either by calling 101 or emailing”

PCSO Sims said of the Tipton St John matter: “We are beginning to see an increase in thefts from motor vehicles in the village.

“On August 24, overnight, a van was broken into and power tools were stolen.

“More recently on September 15 a van had an attempt to steal fuel and a motorhome had an attempt to steal its battery.

“With the most recent crime, we believe the offender was disturbed around 4am.

“Both crimes happened in the Barton Orchard area.

“Please review your security and remain vigilant. If you see anyone acting suspiciously, especially at night, please call 999 immediately.”
