Bid for second B&M Bargains store in Exeter as budget firm applies for booze licence

A second B&M Bargains store could open in Exeter if a licensing application is successful.

The budget variety firm has set its sights on the Stone Lane Retail Park in Marsh Barton.

It already has an outlet at the Rydon Lane Retail Park, writes Local Democracy Reporter Daniel Clark.

B&M Retail Ltd has applied for a new premises licence that would operate out of Unit 4 at the Stone Lane Retail Park.

The go-ahead would enable the retailer to sell alcohol between 7am and 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

Unit 4 at the retail park is currently vacant, although plans for the provision of an external garden centre within its rear service yard were approved last year.

A change-of-use planning application may be required before the B&M can open.

The B&M business is based on providing customers with a limited assortment within product ranges so they can access the best-selling items at value retail prices.

It says this gives customers the goods they want at the prices they want.

Any representations on the application must be made by email to Exeter City Council’s licensing department at licensing.team@exeter.gov.uk by September 25.
