Exmouth Town Football Club have announced ticket details for their FA Cup Preliminary Round home tie against Southern League Melksham Town.
The tie is to be played at Southern Road on Saturday, September 12.
Town triumphed in an away trip to Keynsham Town in the competition on Tuesday (September 1).
Exmouth Town assistant manager Andy Rawlings was thrilled with the all-round performance which saw Jordan Harris, Dave Rowe and Aaron Denny net in a 3-1 win.
Rawlings said: “From the very first minute the lads were quickly ‘bang up for it’ and they stuck to our suggested game plan superbly.
“Last year we lost both outings on artificial surfaces, but had worked, before this game, on the need to play a ‘pass-and-move’ game. The idea being to shift the ball quickly and not play too much long-ball.
“It worked a treat and we were able to dictate the flow of the game even to the degree that when they got one back with around 20 minutes to go, it was just a matter of minutes before we had restored the two-goal advantage.
“I don’t think anyone who saw the 90 minutes would argue that we fully deserved the win and the place in the next round of the FA Cup.”
He added of the support Town had at Keynsham: “We may have only been allocated 25 tickets because of the Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines, but they were heard – and much appreciated.
“The coach trip home was ‘special’ There was a real ‘buzz’, reminiscent of last season’s special cup days and night.”
As for the next round and the home tie with Melksham, Rawlings said: “It’s another challenge – and a different one.
“They [Melksham] are from a higher level and so that takes the pressure off us to some degree in as much as I suspect they will come down to us very much as the favourites.
“But we have a decent record against higher placed opposition in recent seasons of cup football and, with the backing we always get at Southern Road, it has all the makings of being another very special Saturday at Southern Road.”
Admission prices for the Melksham match are: Adults (£6); concessions – over-65s/under-18s (£4); under-16s (£3).
Season ticket holders are reminded that it is ‘all pay’ in FA Cup ties but can guarantee their place at the game by emailing Martin Cook (email@example.com) before Friday, September 11.
Supporters are reminded that, with the club needing to adhere to strict coronavirus pandemic guidelines of track-and-trace along with social distancing, folk attending the FA Cup tie will need to give plenty of time to enable all the checks to be done.
