Police appeal to trace tattooed witness to assault in Exeter where man was left injured

Police are keen to trace a tattooed witness they believe may have information about an assault in Exeter where a man was injured and a knife was seen.

Officers received reports a man was assaulted in Cowick Street, in the St Thomas area of the city, on Sunday, August 30, at around 6.40pm, outside Tesco.

Police want to trace a potential witness who officers believe could hold information to help with enquiries.

Investigating officers describe the potential witness as a white male. He was wearing a black-coloured tee-shirt and dark-coloured shorts, and had tattoos on both his arms.

Anyone who recognises the description, or thinks this may be them, is asked to contact police on 101.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “It was reported that a man had been pulled to the floor causing injury to his arms and wrists.

“A bladed weapon was also reported to have been seen at the scene.”

  • Police said a 23-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of offences including assault and possessing an offensive weapon. He was later released on police bail until September 23, 2020.
