Keeper Will is shootout hero as spot-on Exmouth Town FC U-18s win Wotton Printers Devon Cup

Exmouth Town Football Club Under-18s goalkeeper Will Davis saved two penalties as the Southern Road men won a penalty shootout 4-2 to lift the Wotton Printers Devon Cup.

The fixture against Totnes and Dartington at Coach Road in Newton Abbot, home of the Devon FA,  would normally have been played at the end of last season.

It finally took place on the eve of the 2020/21 campaign after the easing of cornonavirus pandemic restrictions.

Totnes and Dartington struck first in a well-contested final and took a first-half lead.

However, three minutes into the second half, Town captain Jake Pond headed home a corner to level things up.

Both sides went in search of a winning goal and Town glovesman Davis made a number of excellent saves to help keep the South Devon side at bay.

The game ended 1-1 and so moved into a shootout in which Davis kept out two of the Totnes and Dartington spot-kicks, leaving teammate Nat Hawkins to step up and fire home the winning penalty.
