Exmouth Town Football Club have been handed a tough task in the opening round of the 2020/21 Emirates FA Cup.
The Southern Road outfit face fellow Toolstation Western League outfit Keynsham Town in the competition’s extra-preliminary round.
Town last year reached the first qualifying round before exiting the competition in a 4-2 defeat to Highworth.
Exmouth last season made the trip up the M5 to Keynsham for a league game and went down 1-0 on the home club’s artificial surface.
Making the Town task of FA Cup progress that much tougher this season is that, owing to the belated start to the campaign as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, there are no replays in FA Cup ties next season.
That means this match, being played in Bristol on Tuesday, September 1 (7.45pm kick-off), will produce a winner ‘on the night’.
If Town can win an away FA Cup tie for the first time since 2004/05 when they were 4-1 winners at Devizes Town, then, in the next round, they would be at home to another Toolstation League side – Melksham Town on Saturday, September 12.
Town have also learnt of their FA Vase early round opposition and they will entertain South West Peninsula League outfit Mousehole at Southern Road on Saturday, September 19 (3pm).
Success in that game would see Town progress to then visit Sherbourne Town on Saturday, October 10.[asp_product id=”17531″]
