Police launch appeal after same-day thefts of gardening tools stolen during daylight hours from vans parked in two East Devon villages

Police are appealing for witnesses, information and CCTV footage after professional gardening tools were stolen during daylight hours on the same day in East Devon, from vans parked in Whimple and Aylesbeare.

A Stihl leaf blower, Stihl hedge trimmer and Stihl combination engine were stolen from a van parked in Willow View Park, Whimple, on Monday, August 10, sometime between 9am and 2pm.

A Stihl orange brush cutter was stolen from a van parked in the B3180 area of Aylesbeare sometime between 1pm and 1.30pm, also on Monday, August 10.

Police want to hear from anyone with information, and are appealing for witnesses, or CCTV footage from the areas where the tools were stolen.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information in connection with two reports of thefts of tools from vans in the area.

“A van parked in Willow View Park, Whimple, was entered sometime between 9am and 2pm on Monday 10 August 2020.

“Items stolen include a Stihl leaf blower, Stihl hedge trimmer and Stihl combination engine.

“A van which was parked in the area of the B3180, Aylesbeare, had a Stihl orange brush cutter stolen sometime between 1pm and 1.30pm on Monday 10 August 2020.”
