Appeal to find Good Samaritan after alleged assault of woman in Exeter alleyway

Police investigating the alleged assault of a woman in an Exeter alleyway have issued an appeal to find a  potential witness who came to the victim’s aid.

Officers say the incident happened near the George’s Meeting House Wetherspoons pub, in South Street, on an afternoon sometime between Tuesday 25 April and Thursday 10 May.

It is believed to have occurred between 1pm and 4pm.

A woman aged in her late-20s suffered a minor injury to her head.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We would like to locate and speak with a female who may have seen the alleged assault and asked the victim if she was alright.

“She is described as being aged in her early 50s, of slim to medium build, with black hair with grey streaks.”

The spokesperson added that a 27-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has been released on police bail.
