Police warn Honiton roofing cold-callers could be targeting other areas

Police are warning cold-callers offering roofing services in Honiton earlier this week could have moved onto another town.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers had received reports cold-callers were knocking on doors in the town on Tuesday, August 4, offering services such as power washing and roof tile painting.

Officers urged residents to use trusted tradesmen to carry out work, and not to be pressured by rogue traders into making on-the-spot decisions.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We’ve had reports of cold callers offering roofing services, power washing and roof tile painting.

“They were in Honiton on Tuesday 4 August and may now have moved on to another town in Devon.

“Do not agree to work offered by unsolicited doorstep callers.

“If you want work doing in your home or garden, take time to get three quotes from reputable businesses you trust and make your decision on who to use in your own time.”

Police urged anyone concerned about rogue traders in their area to report it.
