Fire crews from Exmouth and Sidmouth tackle car blaze at Aylesbeare

A car on fire in Aylesbeare on Monday night (July 27) was already severely damaged when crews arrived to tackle the blaze.

Firefighters from Exmouth and Sidmouth were called to the Halfway Inn, at Aylesbeare, at around 10.45pm, where they used two hose reel jets to put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire was thought to be accidental, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Fire appliances from Sidmouth and Exmouth attended a car on fire which on arrival was well alight and already severely damaged.

“Crews put the fire out using two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus set.

“The cause of the fire was deemed accidental, although the police did attend the scene.”
