Ducklings rescued and given pet oxygen after fire breaks out at Exmouth home

Ducklings suffering from smoke inhalation were given pet oxygen by Exmouth crews when fire broke out at property in Withycombe Raleigh.

Fire crews were called at around 8pm on Sunday evening (July 12), after the homeowners reported smoke coming from their front room.

Pet oxygen was given to four ducklings rescued from the property, the fire service said.

Crews from Exmouth used a hose reel jet and wore breathing apparatus while tackling the fire.

A thermal imaging camera and tools were used to cut away the floor to check for fire spread.

An Exmouth fire station spokesman said: “The occupants returned home to discover smoke issuing from their front room.

“The fire was extinguished by firefighters in breathing apparatus.”

The RSPCA was also on-scene, the fire service said.
