Police appeal for information after youths throw turf onto bowling green at Honiton

Police are appealing for information after vandals threw clumps of grass and turf onto a green at Honiton Bowling Club.

The Honiton neighbourhood police team are to check CCTV footage to identify the culprits, believed to be youths.

Police were called to the Bowling Green Lane club at 9.35pm on Monday, July 6, after turf was thrown from a nearby field.

The local police team are appealing for witnesses and are keen to hear if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious in the bowling club area at the time the turf was thrown.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 9.35pm on 6 July following reports of turf being thrown onto Honiton Bowling Green from a nearby public field.

“Reportedly a group of young people were involved.

“No damage has been caused to the green itself.

“Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious, or has information about the incident, is asked to contact police.”

Honiton Bowling Club reopened to members on July 1, more than three months after the coronavirus lockdown closed the greens.
