Police warn Exmouth homeowners of door-to-door driveway resurfacing scam

Police are warning homeowners in Exmouth of men calling door-to-door taking money for driveway resurfacing they never start.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the men have been seen driving a grey-coloured Mitsubishi pickup, they offer to do the work, but charge more after completing some of the driveway, or take money upfront and drive off without starting.

Officers are warning residents not to accept the men’s offers to start work if they are approached.

Colin Balch, PCSO at Exmouth, said: “Police would like to make all home owners aware that there have been reports of males calling door to door offering to resurface driveways.

The vehicle that they are using is a grey coloured Mitsubishi Trojan pickup.

“The males offer to do work for what can be thought of as a reasonable price but either try to charge more after doing some of the work or ask for money up front and then drive off without making a start.

“Homeowners are advised not to accept offers to carry out work.”
