Budleigh COVID-19 support group presented with £4,000 helping hand

The Budleigh Coronavirus Support Group was this week presented with a cheque for £4,056 to help those in need during the pandemic.

The funds were donated thanks to Budleigh Salterton Lions Club and included £2,000 from the Budleigh Food Festival.

Budleigh Lions Club president Peter Holmes and Richard Allen, vice president, on Wednesday, June 10, presented the cheque to Lorraine Ralph of the Budleigh Coronavirus Support Group.

Mr Allen said: “The Budleigh Lions Club and Budleigh Food Festival hope that this donation will assist local people and households who are in need of support at this difficult time.”

The Budleigh Coronavirus Support Group was set up on the March 12, 2020, specifically to provide a coordinated response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The group includes representatives from the town’s medical centre, the primary school, all local churches, the town council, Budleigh Lions Club, the Budleigh Hub and the Budleigh Relief In Need Charity.
