Police launch murder investigation following ‘unexplained’ death of woman in Exeter

Police have launched a murder investigation following the ‘unexplained’ death of a woman aged in her 40s in Exeter.

Officers were called to a home in Bernadette Close, Whipton, at around 6pm yesterday (Monday, June 8) where a body was found.

Detectives say the death is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’.

The force said a 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to an address in Bernadette Close, Whipton, Exeter, at around 6pm yesterday evening, Monday 8 June, where a woman in her 40s was found deceased.

“Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“A 51-year-old man from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of murder. No-one else is being sought at this time.”
