The bomb squad has been called to Exmouth beach after a member of the public with a metal detector uncovered an ‘unidentifiable object’ this morning.

An area of the seafront near to the Coastwatch tower has been cordoned-off by police after the discovery was made at around 9.30am.

Officers have placed an ‘ammunition container’ over the item and a Royal Navy team is en-route to the town.
