Police searching for a missing 60-year-old from Sidmouth say the body of a man has been found near Peak Hill cliffs.
Officers, coastguard and lifeboat crew had launched an operation to find Trevor Stevens, who was last seen when he left his home in the town at around 10.30am on Tuesday, May 19.
Coastguard found the body of a man yesterday (Wednesday), police confirmed this morning.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “The body of a man has been located in the search for a missing 60-year-old from Sidmouth.
“A search was launched for Trevor Stevens after he was reported missing from his home in the town on Tuesday 19 May.
“A coastguard team located a body near Peak Hill cliffs, Sidmouth, yesterday.
“Formal identification has yet to take place. The family of Trevor Stevens has been made aware.
“Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
