Cannabis and ‘cocaine’ seized as police carry out drug raids in Axminster

Police in Axminster have carried out drug raids on two properties, seizing cannabis and what is thought to be cocaine.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed a home in The Cricketers, Axminster, was targeted on March 7, and a ’large quantity’ of cannabis found.

Last week officers raided a property in Kirby Close, also in Axminster, where police removed what they believe to be class A drug cocaine, and a quantity of class B drug, cannabis.

Officers said the successful raids were the result of public information being passed to police.

Axminster police said enquiries were continuing, and praised the community for its help in identifying drug issues in the town.

PC Beth Salter, neighbourhood beat manager for Axminster, said: “Our investigations are continuing in relation to these warrants which were executed following community intelligence.

“We were able to take action as a direct result of positive community engagement and appreciate the ongoing support of the public.

“We urge people to continue sharing their concerns with the local neighbourhood police.”

Devon and Cornwall Police said Axminster police team carried out two drugs warrants in the town this spring.

On Saturday, March 7, officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a residential property in The Cricketers, Axminster, and found a large quantity of a drug that tests showed was cannabis.

Officers raided a home on May 2 under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a residential address in Kirby Close, Axminster, and located a quantity of suspected Class A drug, cocaine, and suspected Class B drug, cannabis.
