Budleigh Lions pledge £4,000 to town’s coronavirus support group

Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has pledged thousands of pounds to the town’s coronavirus support group to support the community through the crisis.

Thanks to receiving a share of £100,000 from the Lions Clubs Foundation of the British Isles (LCF), the Budleigh Lions has pledged £4,000 to the COVID-19 support group.

The funds were made possible thanks to a generous donation from Budleigh Salterton Food Festival, the Lions Clubs Foundation and Budleigh Salterton Lions Club.

Peter Holmes, Budleigh Salterton Lions President, said: “This is a significant sum of money that we are putting to good use straightaway.

“This coronavirus pandemic is hurting lots of local people in lots of different ways.

“Just because we are all social distancing doesn’t stop us from caring.

“We are doing what we can, and this cash injection will help us do more.”

Support during the crisis is available for people in Budleigh, East Budleigh, Otterton, Colaton Raleigh or Newton Poppleford.

Help is available with food and shopping for essential items, financial aid, and information on how to volunteer. More information can be found here.

• The Budleigh Salterton Lions Club supports a range of good causes and local projects.
