A 54-year-old woman has died following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Woodbury in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, March 8).
Emergency services were called to Globe Hill at around 1am with reports a person was trapped by a vehicle.
Firefighters used hydraulic airbags to lift the BMW and free the casualty.
Police have confirmed the pedestrian involved in the incident died at the scene.
Officers have issued an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 1am on Sunday, March 8, police were called to a road traffic collision involving a BMW 1 Series car and a pedestrian on Globe Hill, Woodbury.
“Tragically, as a result of the collision, a 54-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Local officers, as well as officers from the specialist Roads Policing Team attended the scene.”
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “Two fire appliances from Topsham and Danes Castle in Exeter, together with a heavy rescue vehicle and supporting appliance from Middlemoor in Exeter, were mobilised following a call from ambulance for our attendance to assist with a one -vehicle RTC, where someone was reported to be trapped by the vehicle.
“Crews were quickly on scene and confirmed this to be the case.
“They set to work using hydraulic air bags to lift the vehicle in order to extricate the casualty into the hands of paramedics.
“Once the vehicle and scene was made safe, duty of care was left with the ambulance service and police.”
