Honiton to host regional Disability Bowls England competition

Honiton is gearing up to host the Disability Bowls England competition for the South West.

Honiton Indoor Bowling Club will hold the event on Saturday, Match 14, from 10am until 5pm, and is inviting all to come along and watch.

On the day there will be eight teams competing, with players of any age and ability.

Joan Mackintosh, Honiton Indoor Bowling Club spokeswoman, said Disability Bowls England – a newly-established charity set up in August 2015, formed to fill the void for disabled bowlers – has arranged an Inter Club Triples Indoor Bowls Competition at five different venues throughout England.

She said: “There will be eight teams competing at each venue. Each team will consist of three players from the same club, be of any age and ability, and have a physical, sensory, memory or learning difficulty.

Joan added: “Everyone is welcome to come along to the club and support these bowlers and if you able-bodied or have a disability and are interested in trying bowls, you can contact the club through the club website.”
