Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has handed a £550 boost to the town’s carnival.

Members of the group said the donation was to ‘help stage this fantastic event for the town’.

They presented the funds to carnival club member Mike Hilliar during a recent meeting at the Dog and Donkey pub.

it is greatly appreciated and it will be used to help with the costs of the main carnival, such as insurance or radios – Mike Hilliar

Pictured presenting the cheque to Mr Hilliar are Lions club activity chairman, Geoff Paver and president Peter Holmes.

Mr Hilliar told the Lions: “Thank you for the cheque, it is greatly appreciated and it will be used to help with the costs of the main carnival, such as insurance or radios.

“Thank you so much for your hard work.”

Bad weather forced the cancellation of Budleigh Carnival last year, but organisers are hoping for the conditions to be kinder in 2020 when the fun takes place on October 3.
