A woman has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after crash near Branscombe on Friday morning, February 14.
Police, the fire service, and paramedics were called to the A3052 shortly before 10.30am this morning after receiving reports of a crash involving a car and a lorry.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the road remains closed and are advising motorists to avoid the area.
A police spokesman said: “The female driver of the car has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.
“The driver of the lorry has been taken to hospital to be checked over.”
Two fire appliances from Sidmouth and Middlemoor, plus the rescue tender from Middlemoor, responded after receiving reports a person was trapped in a vehicle.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival crews found a two-vehicle collision with one person trapped.
“Crews quickly got to work using hydraulic equipment and small tools to release the person trapped.
“Crews were also assisted by ambulance and police personnel.
“Both drivers were conveyed to hospital and the incident was handed over to police.”
