Death of man aged in 20s in Exeter city centre ‘not suspicious’, say police

Police say the death of a man in Exeter city centre last night (Wednesday, February 5) is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers and paramedics were called to Mary Arches Street at around 9.30pm.

A male, aged in his 20s, had been found unconscious and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were notified by the ambulance service at around 9.30pm last night, Wednesday 5 February, to reports of concern of welfare of a man located unconscious on Mary Arches Street in Exeter.

“Emergency services attended the location and a cordon was put in place, which has since been removed.

“Sadly, a man in his 20s was declared deceased at the scene.

“His next-of-kin have been informed.

“The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
