Firefighters tackle blaze in Topsham carpentry workshop

Fire crews continue to tackle a blaze that broke out in carpentry workshop in Topsham this morning.

Firefighters from Topsham and Middlemoor, and an aerial platform from Danes Castle, Exeter, were called to the commercial property in Fore Street at 5.40am, on Wednesday, January 29, after several members of the public raised the alarm.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said crews were still working to put out the fire.

A fire service spokesperson said: “On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that a single storey building used as a carpentry workshop was well alight and got crews to work to extinguish the fire using breathing apparatus and main jets.”
