Fire crews tackle large chemical spill at Exeter warehouse

Fire crews were called to deal with a chemical spill at a business in Exeter on Monday evening.

The environmental protection unit from Newton Abbott was called to deal with a large chemical spill at Kennford Road at 7.15pm, along with two fire crews from Middlemoor and one from Danes Castle, Exeter.

Firefighters wore gas-tight suits and breathing apparatus, and one decontamination unit was employed, when dealing with the 800-litre spillage onto a warehouse floor.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said crews helped the business owners with cordons, and clearing of the site was carried out by a specialist team.
