Car destroyed in fire at Exeter multi-storey car park

A car has been completely destroyed after it caught fire in a multi-storey car park in Exeter.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent appliances from Danes Castle, Topsham and Crediton after receiving reports of the fire at 1.38pm today.

The blaze happened in the car park in King William Street and slightly damaged cars parked nearby.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “On arrival crews confirmed this was one vehicle well alight.

“The fire was extinguished using one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus. One car was totally destroyed by fire and there was slight damage to vehicles either side of it.

“There was also 10 per cent fire damage to the car park weather canopy. The cause of the fire was accidental.”
