Cash boost for Budleigh London Marathon runner’s Hospice UK challenge

A nurse from Budleigh Salterton running the London Marathon for Hospice UK has thanked the community for supporting her fundraising day.

Debbie Newson, aged 45, on Saturday invited the town to her Hospice UK Day at Budleigh’s Fore Street Tesco Express, where visitors could leave a donation for the charity or win raffle prizes.

Debbie’s event raised £460 for Hospice UK thanks to the community’s generosity.

Raffle winners won prizes donated by The Gentlemens Room, Granny Gothards, Findlay Wines, Something Lovely Pottery, in Sidmouth, and Nikki Smith – Women’s Client Centred Massage Therapy.

Married Debbie, who last year collected £2,600 running the London Marathon in aid of Oxfam, will add the £460 to the £900 she has already collected for Hospice UK. She is hoping to beat last year’s marathon total.

Hospice UK is a national charity that supports local hospices and healthcare professionals across the country through sharing research, skills and expertise, to deliver the best end-of-life care to patients.

Debbie will be running for Hospice UK on Sunday, April 26, and has a JustGiving page set up for donations.
