Swapping a Volvo for a Ferrari (dealership)! Showroom plan is revealed for Exeter site

A former Volvo dealership in Exeter is set to be replaced – with a Ferrari showroom.

Plans have been lodged with the city council for the extension and refurbishment of the premises, in Sigford Road, which has been vacant since August last year.

The application says that it will be used as a Ferrari dealership and repair workshop – creating 20 new jobs.

Proposals include alterations to the parking areas and valet facility and the provision of a secure car storage facility to the rear.

The plans state: “The project comprises the reuse of a currently-vacant former Volvo car dealership to be re-branded for use by Ferrari.

“The current building, with a ground-floor gross external area of 988sq m, will be extended to allow for an additional showroom area while being brought in to line with the current brand corporate identity.

“A 575sq m front-of-house extension will allow for the used car display to be located within the facility, elevating customer comfort as well as offering increased safety away from site traffic.”

The application adds that the current customer-facing cladding is not compliant with Ferrari’s corporate image and the back-of-house cladding is in a state of disrepair.

Both will be replaced, while the existing valet facility will be retained with a new enclosed and secure car storage facility built.

Carrs Ferrari currently operates from Manaton Close, half a mile away from the application site.

Exeter City Council will determine the fate of the plans at a later date.
