Festive thanks from St Peter’s Primary School for show of support at Budleigh’s late-night shopping

Pupils and staff from St Peter’s Primary School, in Budleigh Salterton, have thanked those who supported their street performances during the town’s late-night shopping.

The youngsters from St Peter’s teamed up with pupils from Otterton and Drakes primary schools to entertain the town during Budleigh’s late night opening evening, earlier this month.

St Peter’s headteacher Steve Hitchcock thanked the Reverends James, Wayne and Martin for their help, Budleigh’s chamber of commerce chairman, Mike Hilliar, for organising late-night shopping entertainment, and those who supported the pupils in other ways.

Mr Hitchcock said: “This year we started at St Peter’s Church and stopped at four different locations, singing carols on the way.

“The children carried lanterns, as they were led through the town by our Christmas elves.

“We ended up at the Methodist Church for mince pies and a final carol.

“We had a fantastic turnout. The children from St Peter’s, Otterton and Drakes all sang Away in a Manger together.”

He added: “Thank you to Reverends James, Wayne and Martin for helping to put everything together, Mike Hillier for closing the road and organising the entertainment, and Carl, Scott and Sara for being our Christmas elves – they were fab.”
