Lorry carrying white goods at Woodbury Salterton is destroyed by fire

An HGV lorry at Woodbury Salterton was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to Greendale Business Park, Woodbury Salterton, shortly after 4am on December 6, after a call reported that an HGV lorry carrying white goods was on fire.

Fire crews from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were called to the business park where they found the vehicle well alight and the blaze spreading to adjacent vehicles.

Crews wore breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze, using a hose reel jet and two main jets.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire appliances and a water bowser from Middlemoor and Danes Castle attended a business park after a call from a unit stating a heavy goods vehicle carrying white goods was on fire.

“On arrival the first crew requested an extra pump and stated the vehicle was well alight and spreading to adjacent vehicles.
