Indoor bowls: Honiton gains a hot shot against Madeira

In a close Mixed Friendly match played against Madeira, Honiton lost (60 – 66). Two rinks tied for top rink:  D Luff, J Broom, M Bright, J Smith (22 – 16).
The other top rink: D Tooley, J Richardson, R Vincent and T Luff (24 – 18) and in this match the Honiton team gained a hot shot, which is when all their 8 bowls count.
The second Mixed Friendly match played at Honiton was against Chardstock. Honiton won
(59 – 50). Top rink:  D Tooley, L Fielding, M Parsons, J Smith (19 – 7).
In the Ladies’ County Lanes match this week, Honiton played Sidmouth with Honiton winning
(74 – 61).  Honiton gained 6 points. Top rink at home:   J Baker, V Kille, S Dando  (22 – 9).
Top rink away: J Mackintosh, J Mitchell, R Veitch  (19 – 11)
Two teams of ladies from Honiton played in the Mason National Competition this week. Honiton A team played against South Hams in a close match, winning (35 – 32). Top rink at home:  C Barradell, J Mitchell, P Whitworth, H Chambers (16 – 14).
Top rink away: Y Williams, C Armitage, Rita Barwick, D Morley (19 – 18).
Honiton A team are now through to the next round.
Honiton B team played Torbay.  Torbay won (37 – 29).  Top rink B Maynard, M Vessey, A Hillyear, S Hiscocks (19 – 11).
