Theo, nine, strikes gold at Budleigh Library after reading 100 books

A gold badge and certificate has been presented to nine-year-old Theo James to celebrate him reading 100 books.

Theo recently completed the Devon Libraries Book Track reading scheme at Budleigh Salterton Library, choosing books and discussing the stories with the librarian, collecting stickers and badges after each read.

Theo received his gold badge and certificate from Budleigh’s mayor, Cllr Caz Sismore-Hunt, along with a gift from the town council to congratulate him on his extensive reading.

Jane Cordy, library supervisor at Budleigh, said Theo read books by many different authors but finished his Book Track with several of the Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

Jane said: “Book Track is a Devon Library reading scheme and the children taking part not only read the books but talk about them with a librarian when they return the books to their local library.”
