Councillors in Honiton will next week consider a recommendation for disclaimer notices to be erected at a beauty spot.
The town council’s Green and Open Spaces Committee will be presented with a report that suggests the public should be warned of the slipping risks before entering Roundball Wood.
Councillor Terry Darrant is suggesting the notices be erected at all three entrances to the site.
He is concerned about potential risks to the public when using boardwalks and bridges in wet conditions, particularly during the winter months.
Recent work in the woods has seen a fallen tree cleared and a viewing platform stabilised.
However, Cllr Darrant’s report points out another tree has now toppled, partially blocking a footpath, and a large section of meadow is being lost to bramble. He suggests the area is cleared before spring.
Roundball Wood is managed by the council for the benefit of the community. On an elevated site, it offers outstanding views across the town.
