Cause of Honiton car fire was deliberate, say firefighters

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service says a car fire in Honiton in the early hours of this morning was started deliberately.

Emergency services were called to Rookwood Close at 2.35am following reports of a vehicle on fire.

It was determined that the arson attack slightly damaged other vehicles at the location.
Crews from Honiton and Ottery St Mary attended the scene.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Upon arrival crews confirmed the vehicle to be well alight and set to work to extinguish the fire using two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.
“The car was 75 per cent damaged by fire with a further two vehicles also slightly damaged by fire.  The cause was deliberate.”

Police say they are investigating an act of arson on a vehicle in Rockwood Close.
