Exmouth Town FC take on Tavistock in FA Vase

Exmouth Town FC are back on the FA Vase trail on Saturday (November 2) when they go to fellow Toolstation League Premier Division outfit Tavistock for a second round tie.

The pair were drawn out as tie number 57 out of the 64 fixtures that make up the second round.

To get to this stage of the competition, Exmouth Town have seen off Brisling ton, who were beaten 3-2 at Southern Road, Cadbury Heath, who were beaten 5-1 on their own ground and, in the last round, Wessex Premier League outfit Portland United were beaten 2-0.

Tavistock began their cup run with a 4-1 home win over Hallen before a 5-0 away success at Cheddar and, in the last round they beat visiting Shepton Mallet 4-1.

As well as a place in third round, the winning team will bank a cheque for £900 on Saturday while the losers will receive £300.

To date, teams that have won through from the first qualifying round will already have banked £2,050.

The third round of the FA Vase is set for Saturday, November 30, and clubs winning through at that stage will then go into the fourth round which is set for Saturday, January 11.

Town and Tavistock are no strangers to each other.

They met in the Toolstation League as recently as last Wednesday night when a brace of goals from Ace High and goals too from Callum Shipton and Jordan Harris saw Town to a 4-2 win in a game that had seen them trail twice.

Last season, Tavistock pipped Exmouth Town FC to the South West Peninsula League Premier Division title and, in the two league meetings during the campaign, both teams won 1-0 on the others home ground!
