‘Silly’ juvenile who chased girl in Ottery St Mary has apologised, say police

A juvenile male who chased a young girl home in Ottery St Mary last night (Thursday) has been identified and has apologised, according to police.

Officers today moved to reassure the public and said the culprit will be ‘dealt with’ for antisocial behaviour.

They added that the youngster responsible was ‘being silly’ had not thought about the consequences of his actions.

The incident, in the Butts Road area, became a hot topic on social media, where it was reported a teenage girl had been left shaken after being chased.

PCSO Jonathan Sims, of the Ottery neighbourhood policing team, said this afternoon: “May I please reassure all members of the community that, although this did take place, it was a juvenile male from the town being silly and not thinking about the consequences.

“I am completely satisfied that the juvenile male was just being stupid, and he has apologised for his actions.

“He will be dealt with by Ottery Police for antisocial behaviour.”
