Anniversary celebrations mark a successful year of FORCE chemo funding at Honiton Hospital

Celebrations have been held to mark a year of funding chemotherapy at Honiton Hospital so East Devon patients can avoid traveling to Exeter.

Staff, volunteers and supporters of FORCE Cancer Charity marked the first anniversary of funding chemotherapy treatments at Honiton Hospital – reducing the need for patients to travel to Exeter.

Over the last year FORCE has paid for specialist nurses from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s oncology department to deliver certain treatments at Honiton Hospital every Friday.

A FORCE spokeswoman said: “Reduced travel time, easier parking and less time waiting for treatment in the busy Exeter chemo unit has been a real bonus to many people from the Honiton area.

“The service runs alongside FORCE’s weekly support and information sessions in the town, introduced in September 2018.”

She added: “Staff, volunteers and supporters of FORCE Cancer Charity gathered to celebrate one year of funding chemotherapy for patients in East Devon, closer to where they live.”
