Drugs seized and speeders stopped in clampdown in rogue road users in Sidmouth and Seaton

Drugs were seized and speeding drivers shopped when police staged a clampdown on rogue road users in Sidmouth and Seaton.

Officers from the Rural East Devon team and special constables carried out safety operations in both towns this week.

In Sidmouth on Thursday evening (October 10), drugs were seized when four occupants of one vehicle were searched.

Eight drivers were reported for speeding and ‘a large number’ of drivers were informed of various road traffic offences, according to police.

In Seaton on Tuesday night (October 8), one motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

Officers added that ‘a number of people’ were ‘dealt with’ for speeding.

A spokesperson for the Rural East Devon Police team said: “Speed kills people and every driver owes a duty of care to drive safely on our roads.”
