Police issue urgent warning to restaurant and takeaway owners and managers

Restaurant and takeaway owners across East Devon are being urged to review security at their home addresses and to vary their routines.

Police have issued an urgent warning after homes of food business owners and managers were targeted by burglars.

Cash and jewellery was stolen in a number of incidents in the 24 hour period leading up to yesterday morning.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:  “Within the last 24 hours homes in Devon and Cornwall, belonging to people who either run or own restaurants and takeaways, have been targeted with cash and jewellery being stolen.

“The number of reported crimes is relatively low, however, this type of crime tends to be committed by criminals who move from one area to the next.

“We ask those of you who fall within the group being selected to please consider varying your routines and reviewing your security.”

Anyone with information about the crimes is urged to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org
